Yesterday Durango was out hiking in his favorite location, he took an interesting picture and as usual asks good questions.
"Yesterday I read that the Dallas Cowboys, well Jerry Jones, somehow got Barnett Shale gas drilling banned for some area around the new stadium. The reason being that the stadium is very heavy and drilling under it might wreak havoc.Different type concerns were unable to stop Chesapeake Energy from drilling off Carter Avenue at the west end of the Tandy Hills Natural Area.Today, around noon, I did my regular Thursday inspection of the Tandy Hills. I noticed large earthquake-like fissures have appeared. Is the ground rumbling under the Tandy Hills?"

On the same subject, I began to wonder how much downtown Fort Worth weighs:
Since the Dallas Cowboys have ruled out gas drilling under their new $1 billion stadium because of concerns over the structural integrity of the stadium that weighs 805 million pounds, why isn't the City of FW worried about the same thing downtown? Thousands of people live and work in those skyscrapers. All those buildings must weigh a heck of a lot more than the stadium. Just wondering.

To add to Anon.'s thought-provoking comment points and questions: what effect would these quakes (i.e. movements of major sheets of rocks under the ground)have on all the drilling equipments and protective casings (to prevent leaks)shoved all over the area. Will the casings be strong enough to withstand such major movements? And all those pipelines criss-crossing the B.S. counties? Closer to home, what effect will these quakes have on our already shifting ground that our homes' foundations sit upon? Will the insurance companies increase premiums as a result of these new developments? AND WHAT ELSE WILL IT TAKE FOR OUR FELLOW CITIZENS (AND LEADERS/STAFF) TO WAKE UP AND ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DIRTY SIDE OF "CLEAN BURNING NATURAL GAS" PRODUCTION? SHOULDN'T THIS BE A WAKE UP CALL (TO ACTION)FOR US--FROM GOD/NATURE? So please wake up (but don't smell our increasingly dirty air)our fellow citizens in Tarrant county. Or we could wait until something more spectacular and closer to home take place--maybe City Hall falling into a crack during their special meeting? Not wishing for it--just asking.
