WHO thought gas lines in residential areas were a good idea?

San Antonio on fire.

Irving man burned, house exploded.

Shreveport cattle dead. What's next?

Or as the people on Carter say, WHO's next?

Who approves where the pipelines go???

Dear Lone Star-- I love your blog. If possible could you pass along my little note below to all the appropriate people.
To the Mayor and Councilpersons (and all those running for these positions of public trust): Please take a few minutes from your busy schedule (with elections coming up and all)and watch the video of the 24"natural gas pipeline explosion this morning near a San Antonio neighborhood. Please notice that if that explosion were to occur on my street Carter Ave. (I'm sure most of you have heard of it but somehow cannot seem find it--we watched and waited)my elderly neighbors and the children living across the street from me would be about 30 ft. from that 3-story high blast/blaze and people on my side of the street would be about 70 ft.away from "ground zero". That means the HOMES where my family, elderly neighbors, and local children live in would be closer to the fireball THAN that smoldering car in the picture. Couldn't you picture this sight popping up in different neighborhoods around our city within the next few years (a mathematical likelihood)? So best wishes on your election. I and my neighbors also pray that you (or your successors) will not have to make an official visit to our street after such an "event" to "assess" and "offer support". We probably wouldn't be in any shape to welcome you or receive your show of kindness. On the bright side, you will be able to find our street and even get on CNN, ABC, BBC, etc. Plus with your laser-like focus on "economic development" you could turn what remains into a tourist attraction-- kind of like the Alamo, except people from across the world will learn all about about "safe clean burning natural gas" and the sacrifices made to ensure our "freedom from foreign energy dependency". It's not quite as heroic and noble as those who fell at the Alamo. But then again we live in a different time with very different values. Thank you in advance for the personal sacrifices, dilligenge, and ethical principles used in your service to "we the people".
