Durango calls out the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and their least favorite columnist, again.
Can some woman, preferably employed at the Star-Telegram, tell us how Bud Kennedy is still working there?
And here's to hoping the 'Dallas Boogey Man', who owns businesses in Fort Worth, is looking to buy a newspaper.
Cheers!

What he said
A letter to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram made us laugh.
Usually the columns do too. Isn't that all they are good for?
Bud bias
With nearly every Bud Kennedy column clearly aimed at insulting Christians, Tea Partiers, Republicans, etc., I have to wonder if we’re getting a fair and unbiased review of his hamburger and chicken-fried steak columns.
With his strong distaste for anything even slightly conservative, does he vet his cafe owners before determining if their food is up to his liberal standards or even worthy of a plug?
What if the cafe owner is selling beef from a conservative rancher’s herd, maybe even a rancher who might own a gun? What if the bread delivery guy goes to church? Could these factors muddy the waters for a food critic like Bud Kennedy?
No doubt his annoying anti-everything sells newspapers. Otherwise, his column would be pro-liberal rather than anti-conservative.
Only in podunk towns and the Star-Telegram could you have a political column and a food column written by the same guy.

Constable Candidate
If you don't know WHO Glen Bucy is, you should. He's a Fort Worth resident that has been involved in local politics for the past several years. He's a TCU Political Science graduate, he survived the Wedgewood Church shooting in Fort Worth, and a combat tour in Afghanistan, he is also an Arlington Police Officer. He's running for constable in precinct 6 and we have a question for those of you "in the know" out there...
WTH could Bud Kennedy have against an all American guy like Glen Bucy??
Seems at a recent forum, one of Glen's opponent's stood and made the claim that he was endorsed by Congresswoman, Kay Granger. Bucy went on to explain why he did not want such an endorsement. Once again, on Facebook, Bud Kennedy weighed in on Bucy - about the congresswoman being "criticized--by a constable candidate?"
WHO else is supposed to call them out? The "news"??
Since when can constituents not comment on their elected officials and their spending? If we left that to the "news" paper, no one ever would.
Here's what Glen had to say earlier in the week about the endorsements.
And pork is pork, no matter how they serve it in Fort Worth.
While at the Southwest Republican Club, one of my opponents stated that he was the only... candidate in the room that was unequivocally endorsed by Congresswoman Kay Granger,(the most powerful endorsement you could possibly have in Tarrant county according to my opponent.) to which I responded in my final two minute closing statement "The only reason I do not have Kay Grangers endorsement, is because I did not seek it out. I have spoken publicly in the past about several issues that I had with Congresswoman Granger, most importantly, that she is a Pro-Choice Republican, and I am a Pro-Life."
While I agree that Kay Granger has done some good things for Fort Worth, I cannot condone her pro-choice stance on abortion. On matters of fiscal responsibility, Granger fails the test again being one of the largest pork barrel spenders in congress. With projects like the Trinity River Vision and its $909 million dollar price tag, Kay doesn't do our party any favors when we talk about cutting back in Washington spending. As Republicans, we need to be taking the lead in matters of fiscal responsibility/accountability and that is exactly what I plan to do in Constable's office.

It's only lobbying if someone else does it...
We found the most interesting pieces of Bud's column to be quotes. One of those being his own.
On the group's website, he posted a statement saying that the group's contact with lawmakers is not lobbying and that the Texas Ethics Commission enforces what is "probably an unconstitutional law."'
He also took a rhetorical swipe at Truitt's Republican political consultant, Bryan Eppstein of Fort Worth, saying Eppstein "promotes higher taxes and burdensome government."
In a rarity, Eppstein did not return a call.
Don't miss the reader comment below. Did Connor say such a thing? What does he say now?
I like what former Star-Telegram publisher Richard Connor said about Bryan Eppstein:
This man is a pig at the trough, and Fort Worth is his barnyard.

Don't you just Love it?
The Woodshed is back in the spotlight. Or rather, Tim Love is.
The DFW.com article goes on and on. While it did discuss the Tim Love restaurants that didn't survive, (New York City didn't quite love Love) it reminded us of an infomercial. Well, Love did say he loves to be on TV. You can read it on DFW.com.
We found a few notes of interest, other than that, more of the Fort Worth Way.
We do love THE PEOPLE in Fort Worth, their comments are usually right on the money.
Too many good BBQ places in FTW to be wasting your time with wanna be BBQ at the Woodshed. The only reason why people go there is to check out the TCU hotties. Once the hotties move on to the next new place to be seen, the Woodshed will fold.
And take note of WHO is mentioned in the story. WHO's money is that?

In early 2000, Love ran into Star-Telegram Eats Beat columnist Bud Kennedy in Milano's, the Seventh Street pizza-and-pasta restaurant not far from Michaels. He told Kennedy that he was a chef and that he was about to open a great new restaurant. Kennedy shrugged it off as a random encounter with a stranger. Six months later, he wrote that Lonesome Dove Western Bistro might be the best of several new restaurants that opened in Fort Worth that year.
The TRVA may have provided nearly a million dollars toward building the structure, but Love points out that he still put a lot of his own money into the project and he feels confident that, in the long run, Woodshed will be seen as a trailblazer along the river.

"Egomaniacs running amok"
In Tarrant County...well, duh. Where have you been, under a rock?!
While it's a quote a local columnist used to describe our Constables, (which he refers to as "tin-horn sheriffs") we say if the shoe fits...
Ego continues throughout the 60+ comment string on Facebook, as well as insults.
Maybe YOU should check out some of the local boys running for Constable. Several of them have served in one way or another and have spent much of their time protecting THE PEOPLE. What is it that columnist do for THE PEOPLE?
WHO were THEY talking about today?
Glen Bucy.
